Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1- For what type of applications are MADEPLAST products recommended for?
Plasticized wood by MADEPLAST is recommended for the following uses in external areas: decks, facades, cladding, trellis, pier, spa, bridges, ecological trails, fences and walls.
  • 2- How is the product installed?
Collections from MADEPLAST Practical line are easy to install, they just need basic labor. MADEPLAST has made available on its site a Technical Specifications Manual and an installation video with the step by step for the Easy Deck collection and Tefe Collection. Collections from the Technical Line (Aitá, Marubo, Passarela Kit, Cajuru, Mandi and Baro) need special labor which will be provided by specialized resellers that commercialize MADEPLAST products.
  • 3- Where can I find a MADEPLAST reseller?
Get in touch with us via chatroom or fill the contact form, and we will direct your request. You can always count on our team.
  • 4- Does ecological wood heat up more than others?
Ecological wood heats up as much as conventional wood. That is because the proportion of plastic on its composition is low: Only 30% of the total mass of the product. The relative air humidity might influence the thermal sensation and give the impression that it heats up more. Dark colors absorb and transmit a greater amount of heat. Painting and varnishing the material might also increase the capacity of the surface to absorb the heat.
  • 5- Is there a possibility for the product to fade?
There could be a gradual fading of the boards if exposed to the sun. This phenomenon is commonly found in materials that are used in external areas, although additives are used on MADEPLAST composure to reduce the fading effect.
  • 6- Does the product require periodic maintenance?
Ecological wood by MADEPLAST requires low maintenance in comparison to conventional wood, however, some measurements should be taken to increase durability and help conserving the material. Although there is no need to varnish or to follow the same maintenance protocol of conventional wood, it is recommended to do the cleaning at least twice a year. The cleaning should be done with water, and neutral soap, and a floor map or a pressure washer.
  • 7- Which are the tools that are used when installing ecological wood?
Ecological wood can be cut and screwed with the same tools as for conventional wood. In addition to that, the product has the differential of not releasing splinters, unlike natural wood.
  • 8- Are pieces exactly the same?
No. Pieces are subject to changes on the tone pattern as a result of the manufacturing process. The intrinsic characteristic of the product is rusticity; therefore, pieces might present visible differences. The use of rustic materials is a trend that has been adopted by many architects, landscapers, and designers. MADEPLAST material has this characteristic because of the nature of its recycled raw material.
  • 9- What is MADEPLAST’s quality standard?
MADEPLAST’s quality standard is characterized by 3 product quality filters that are applied while manufactured. For each filter, quality criteria are analyzed. The quality criteria are: visual, dimensional (width, thickness and length), piece integrity, finishing, and color. These criteria are stablished within an acceptable range, according to the historical standard of each piece.
  • 10- If the product is immune to fungi and pesto, why should it be varnished?
In fact, MADEPLAST products don’t need to be varnished. This is a great monetary advantage in comparison to conventional wood. However, if the client wants to add some gloss to the product surface, it can still be varnished. This is an entirely aesthetic option. In case of varnishing, the use of Osmocolor Stain Nogueira is recommended.
  • 11- How many vanish coats are necessary?
Just 2 coats from Osmocolor Stain Nogueira are usually enough to have a good aesthetic result for decks or trellis, since Osmocolor Stain Nogueira is better absorbed in plasticized wood than in conventional wood.
  • 12- How to remove stains from the product?
In the event of the product being stained, try to remove the stain by cleaning with a mop or pressure washer. If the stain persists, we recommend to sand the surface. Varnishing with Osmocolor Stain Nogueira will prevent and mitigate stains.
  • 13- What type of situations are covered by the product’s warranty?
MADEPLAST offers limited warranty exclusively against defects on the product that are consequence of the ATACK OF FUNGI OR PESTO (bacteria and termite). Read more about it and see what is excluded from our warranty by downloading our Warranty Certificate. Access the link HERE
  • 14- Is there any special care at the time of storing the product?
Pieces need to be stored on a flat surface. Storage on an irregular surface might cause the piece to warp. Additional care when handling the piece should be taken, so the frieze and the extremes of the product are preserved.
  • 15 - What’s the product limitation when it comes to applying it on spans?
Every product collection has its own limitations which are defined by the Technical Specifications Manual, available on our website. Pieces might suffer the effect of material smoothness after installation. By definition, smoothness is the permanent deformation of a material when submitted to additional weight, or constant tension.
  • 16 - Why is MADEPLAST 100% eco-friendly?
We do not acquire virgin plastics for our extruded profiles. MADEPLAST reutilizes the leftovers from wood and post-consumption plastic residues to compose the products. In addition to that, it’s historically known that plenty of the wood used in Civil Construction in Brazil comes from illegal cutting. By using MADEPLAST in your project, you prevent deforestation as you substitute a natural resource for a 100% eco-friendly product, made from residues.
